Self Portraits

I don’t know if it’s every photographer’s nightmare or just mine, but I hate having my photo taken. At the beginning of 2022, I decided I wanted to expand my foray into portrait photography, and who better to model than myself? The best part about being my own model is I take direction from myself very well! I always know what I’m thinking.

Sure, some pictures turned out way better than others. I have learned that when it comes to styling shoots, I have a lot to learn. This project has done wonders in terms of my knowledge of portraits— what looks good, what looks awkward, editing faces, and stopping posing with the exact same face and expression. As with any photography, the easiest way to learn is through practice and making mistakes, and who better to use as a guinea pig than myself?

We don’t have to love every photo taken of us, but we can appreciate them all the same.
